UIG was a proud corporate sponsor of the annual Teen CEO Day on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Winthrop University. UIG representatives attended the event to share with students, first hand, the many career possibilities at UIG, located within thirty miles of each of the schools represented.
4500 UPSTATE KIDS ATTEND TEEN CEO DAY!
Over 4,500 eighth grade students from Chester, Lancaster, and York Counties participated in Teen CEO (Career Exploration Opportunity) Day. It was an opportunity to learn about careers, companies, and industries that exist in their communities.
Students selected a career cluster to focus their time and attention on available jobs in their career field of interest. Then they encountered companies and careers at various exhibits, as well as heard from a career speaker.
TEEN CEO DAY: UIG OFFERS STEM OPPORTUNITIES
Teen CEO Day is a project of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Development Foundation. This nonprofit foundation helps students gain a better understanding of the need for students to enroll in STEM Programs. Foundation activities aim to increase the number of students in STEM Fields. This includes students in K-12, technical and community colleges, and four-year colleges and universities.
UIG SUPPORTS TEEN CEO DAY AND STEM FOUNDATION
UIG proudly supports the efforts of the STEM Development Foundation. We welcome opportunities to partner with local schools and universities to showcase the many career opportunities that exist in the construction industry and at UIG.
“Teen CEO Day is a great venue to show young people the possibilities in front of them, right when they are starting to think about their future careers,” says Rebecca Battle-Bryant, UIG’s VP of Employee Resources & Workforce Development. “And it’s one more opportunity for UIG to say ‘take a good look at construction!’ It’s more than a job; it’s a rewarding career field with amazing potential!”
