In late October, United Infrastructure Group (UIG) reached a major milestone with the successful completion of the bridge portion of the Drayage Road Project in North Charleston, South Carolina. Delivered through the Banks United Drayage Joint Venture in partnership with the South Carolina Ports Authority, this transformative project will create a dedicated drayage corridor connecting the Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal to the Navy Base Intermodal Facility. UIG constructed the 1,553-foot Drayage Road Bridge, spanning active rail lines and roadways to serve as a critical link between marine and intermodal operations. Built safely and on schedule, the bridge will help improve freight mobility, reduce congestion, and enhance overall efficiency for trucks moving in and out of the Port of Charleston. Working closely alongside Banks Construction Company, this milestone brings the overall Drayage Road initiative one step closer to final completion, which is anticipated in Q4 2026—further strengthening South Carolina’s role as a global logistics gateway.

Florence BLVD Bridge Completion – Phase IIA & IIB United Infrastructure Group (UIG) is proud to announce the successful completion of the bridge construction over Two Mile Creek as part of the Florence Boulevard Road Improvements (Phases IIA & IIB) in Florence, South Carolina. This 220-foot-long structure provides a critical link between SC Highway 327/N. Williston Road and N. Williamson Road—forming the backbone of future access to the $3.1B AESC electric vehicle battery plant. Working in collaboration with R.E. Goodson Construction and key partners like F&ME Consultants and Florence County officials, UIG led the bridge effort, which included over 8,000 linear feet of sheet piling, 40+ walers, 70+ tie rods, 900+ bolted connections, and 2,200+ welds—forming a robust tie-back system that supports the site’s unique subgrade challenges. This infrastructure not only enhances connectivity to I-95 but also supports long-term logistics for one of the Southeast’s most significant economic developments.
Florence Phase IIA and IIB BLVD
Located in Rock Hill, SC, the Camp Canaan Rehabilitation Bridge Project is more than just an infrastructure upgrade—it’s a story of community, access, and service. United Infrastructure Group partnered with local stakeholders to rehabilitate the only access bridge to Camp Canaan, a beloved nonprofit retreat located on a 100-acre island in the Catawba River. With safety concerns growing and future programming at risk, UIG stepped in to provide the engineering, construction, and materials needed to ensure safe and reliable access for the hundreds of children, families, and veterans who rely on Camp Canaan each year. Camp Canaan Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Rock Hill, SC
Construction is moving steadily on the Florence Boulevard Project over Two Mile Creek in Florence County, SC. As of mid-July, crews have completed all sheet piling, tie-back system components, and the first end bent. Significant grading work has raised site elevations by up to 10 feet on both sides of the bridge. Current work includes forming the second end bent and completing the flume, with beam setting and concrete deck pours just around the corner. The project is being delivered in close coordination between United Infrastructure Group and R.E. Goodson Construction as part of broader improvements supporting the Florence Global Technology Park.
UIG Florence Phase IIA and IIB BLVD Project
Early Saturday morning, a fuel truck crashed and caught fire beneath the I-20 overpass in Aiken County, causing the bridge to collapse and a full closure of the interstate. United Demolition and United Infrastructure Group crews mobilized immediately, working in close coordination with the South Carolina Department of Transportation to respond to the emergency. The collapsed bridge was safely removed in under 24 hours, and thanks to nonstop efforts from all involved, the roadway was repaired and reopened to traffic within 36 hours of the incident. We are proud to support SCDOT and the state of South Carolina in critical moments like this—when response time, safety, and experience matter most. Most importantly, no one was injured in the incident. We thank God for His protection over everyone involved. I-20 Emergency Bridge Demolition in Aiken County, SC by United Demolition and SCDOT
Watch as UIG installs the new NSRR bridge over I-77—an essential milestone in improving regional freight rail and highway infrastructure in South Carolina. Project Description: The NSRR over I-77 project involved the construction of a critical Norfolk Southern Railway bridge spanning Interstate 77 in Columbia, SC. Led by UIG, this complex effort improves freight mobility and roadway safety by modernizing aging infrastructure while minimizing disruption to one of the region’s most heavily traveled corridors. The project highlights advanced engineering, accelerated bridge construction methods, and precise coordination between rail and highway operations. Milestones on UIG's NSRR over I 77 Project
The United-Blythe JV (Blythe Development Co) hit a major milestone on the SC 160 Interchange project, successfully setting 90-106-foot curved plate girders—each weighing 116,000 pounds—on May 9-10, 2025. Supplied by Augusta Iron and Steel, the girders were erected using a critical lift plan developed by Engineer Samson Lehman, PE of United Engineering & Consulting. UBJV I77 & SC160 Girder Erection
United Infrastructure Group started the 416 hour project deadline of the I-77/Catawba River Emergency Deck Replacement Project to remove and replace 50,000 square feet of the existing concrete deck in the southbound lanes in just 17 days. The dedicated team assembled had 300 crew members and over 50 pieces of equipment. The work included hydro and conventional demolishing of 50,000 square feet of concrete deck followed immediately with installation of 50,000 square feet of metal forms, 400,000 pounds of rebar/accessories, and 1,450 cubic yards of concrete, plus expansion joints, and barrier rails. UIG's 2022 Design-Build National Award winning project. This Design-Build project includes a new high-level fixed-span bridge and removal of the existing swing-span bridge along US 21 (Sea Island Parkway) over the Harbor River in Beaufort County, SC which is the only vehicular access route to Harbor and Fripp islands.
