Project Overview

On October 2, 2025, United Infrastructure Group successfully completed construction of the Phase IIA and IIB segments of the Boulevard Road Bridge in Florence County, South Carolina. This new 220-foot-long structure provides a vital connection between SC Highway 327 / N. Williston Road and N. Williamson Road, serving as a critical infrastructure link to support the region’s growing transportation and industrial network.

The Boulevard Road Bridge was constructed to directly serve the new AESC (Envision Automotive Energy Supply Co.) electric-vehicle battery manufacturing facility, located off East Old Marion Highway across from Wilson High School. Representing a $3.12 billion investment and expected to generate approximately 2,700 jobs, the AESC plant will become a major economic driver for Florence County and the state of South Carolina. The bridge now provides the essential logistics route between Interstate 95 and the new manufacturing campus, enabling efficient movement of goods and materials while reducing congestion on local roads.

Scope of Work

UIG served as the prime bridge contractor, working in close collaboration with Florence County, the Alliance, F&ME Consultants, and R.E. Goodson Construction. The project included:

  • Construction of a 220-foot bridge designed for heavy-duty industrial traffic and long-term durability
  • Installation of approximately 8,000 linear feet of sheet pile, driven to depths of nearly 40 feet below grade
  • Fabrication and assembly of an extensive waler and tie-rod reinforcement system, providing structural stability and lateral restraint
  • Integration of 40+ walers, 70+ tie rods, more than 900 bolted connections, and 2,200+ welds, all executed to the highest quality and safety standards
  • Continuous coordination with utility, roadway, and environmental stakeholders to maintain schedule and minimize community disruption

Project Highlights

  • Forms the primary logistics connection to the $3.12 billion AESC EV battery plant
  • Serves as a key economic enabler for Florence County’s manufacturing corridor
  • Demonstrates UIG’s technical depth in complex bridge and wall systems, with extensive structural steel, sheet pile, and reinforced tie systems
  • Delivered on schedule and within budget, underscoring UIG’s commitment to partnership, quality, and safety

Strategic Impact

The Florence Boulevard Phase IIA & IIB project exemplifies UIG’s ability to deliver complex, high-value infrastructure that supports industrial growth and regional development. By combining structural expertise with strong collaboration among public and private partners, UIG helped lay the foundation for one of South Carolina’s most transformative economic projects — strengthening connectivity, enhancing logistics efficiency, and driving opportunity across the Pee Dee region.
