S-152 Over CSX RR and S-55 Over Shot Pouch

This project consists of replacing the historic Manning Avenue Bridge over the CSX railroad in Sumter, South Carolina. Originally constructed in 1940, the bridge has served the community for more than 80 years, and while the existing structure has reached the end of its service life, the replacement bridge will maintain architectural elements that honor the character of the original while incorporating modern improvements. The new structure will enhance drainage, reduce long-term maintenance needs, and improve pedestrian safety and accessibility with updated walkways, planters, and lighting that reflect the bridge’s historic aesthetic. United Infrastructure is proud to deliver this project, improving a vital transportation corridor while preserving the historic character of downtown Sumter.

This project consists of replacing the Miller Road bridge over Shot Pouch Branch in Sumter County, South Carolina. The existing bridge, originally constructed in 1957, was closed earlier than anticipated due to structural wear and safety concerns. The replacement bridge will provide a safer and more durable crossing for the community. As part of the project, crews will relocate the Greenway Path to maintain pedestrian access while construction activities begin. Work includes installation of new drainage structures, demolition of the existing bridge, and construction of a flat slab bridge with upgraded roadway approaches. These improvements will enhance load capacity, improve stormwater management, and reduce long-term maintenance needs while strengthening this important transportation route for the Sumter area.
