At the end of October, United Infrastructure Group (UIG) proudly celebrated the successful completion of the bridge portion of the Drayage Road Project, delivered through the Banks United Drayage Joint Venture in partnership with the South Carolina Ports Authority. UIG is working with Banks Construction Company on this critical new roadway in North Charleston, SC, which will enhance connectivity between the Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal and the Navy Base Intermodal Facility by creating a dedicated drayage corridor designed to improve freight mobility, increase safety, and reduce congestion on surrounding roadways.
UIG’s scope included construction of the 1,553-foot Drayage Road Bridge spanning active rail and roadway systems—an essential link between marine terminal and intermodal operations. Working in close coordination with Banks, who is responsible for the adjacent roadway scope, UIG’s team delivered a structure that will significantly improve logistics, traffic flow, and overall efficiency for drayage trucks serving the port. The bridge was completed safely and on schedule, marking a major milestone for the overall Drayage Road initiative, which is anticipated to reach final project completion in Q4 2026, further strengthening South Carolina’s role as a gateway for global commerce.
We’ve been doing this a while, so we have quite a bit to show for it. View all projects or check out one of our latest below.
