The Georgia Department of Transportation
(GDOT) awarded the contract for the I-16/I-75 Improvement Project Phases 4 and 5 in Macon, GA valued at $228.9 million to a joint venture between Webber, LLC and
United Infrastructure Group Inc.
“Improving I-16 and I-75 is critical to keeping Macon moving and working,” said Jose Carlos Esteban, President & CEO of Webber. “Webber is dedicated to building a lasting presence in Georgia and becoming part of the local community. We are excited to get this opportunity to improve traffic flow and drive economic growth in Bibb County.”
The I-16/I-75 Project will improve the safety of the corridor by widening and reconstructing 4.588 miles on I-16/404 East and West Bound beginning at I-75/SR 401 and extending to Walnut Creek within the City of Macon. The project will include work on 21 bridges in the area and a complete reconstruction of the I-16/I-75 interchanges. This will improve the interstate highways by constructing wider shoulders, concrete barriers and, in most locations, additional lanes. A collector/distributor (CD) road system will be constructed parallel to both I-16 and I-75.
“Being a part of the completion of this important infrastructure project in Macon and providing a place for our men and women at United to further their careers is very exciting, challenging, and a great fit for our strategic growth plan in Georgia,” said Jim Triplett, President & CEO of United.
